Over the River and Through the Woods

Over the river and through the woods, to grandmother's house I went. Spending time with my gram is like stepping back in time. Homemade preserves on the shelves, knitting needles and sewing projects around every corner, and a barn and a wishing well out the window.

Far-Away-Hill Farm, Indian Lake, NY. Home of Franklin Delano Burgess and Rose Melvina Marie Joan Landry Burgess, my paternal grandparents.

The morning activity was sewing doll clothes for one of the many (19 & counting) grand and great-grandchildren to play with.

Then, a few hands of rummy were dealt while lunch was on the stove.

Not a jam in the house was safe from Franklin.

We finished the day off knitting socks and baby blankets.

There may be no place like home.

But there is definitely no better home than grandmother's!
